Foxglove & Fig
Fine Art, Craft, and Comforts
From Hearthstone to Heirloom
A letter from the artist,
We experience so many kinds of art in our lifetimes. Big and impactful statement pieces, political art, romantic art, statuesque art, art we wear…we, ourselves, are art.
Art is subjective, and I think this is what draws me to it. It belongs to us individually as makers and as consumers. It connects us to one another in subtle ways. The type of work I find myself drawn to over and over again is found in the small moments. The tenderly shared, universal experience of being human.
A wildflower that grows, a hair pin left behind on a bathroom sink, a lost sandal on the beach. Coffee cups left on a kitchen table half finished. A polaroid found in a thrifted book, an empty church. Holding hands in the movie theatre, screaming on roller coasters, cooking dinner. Figs and fireworks. Middle school girl’s painted nails. Your mother singing to you as you blow out candles, the quilt tent your grandmother hung on the clothesline. The small black ants you watch crawl across the tops of your suntanned feet on their way about their business…the way you watch above them feeling big and small all at once.
These moments that are simultaneously irrevocably personal and yet undeniably universal. They connect us to one another but, more intimately, to ourselves. To how we experience the small wonders of noticing, and the urgency of longing for all the things we’ve missed. These are the trinkets of time we collect along the way.
So this is the art you will find here. The kind of art that I love. The only deeper meaning will be the one you carry with you in a million small ways every day.
And if you find yourself loving something in what you find here, you can carry it with you too.

Handmade fiber arts have historically been the perfect juxtaposition between necessity and indulgence. Laying sweetly on the clothesline of function and fun.
Modern machines have come a long way in replicating quickly what we once made stitch by stitch. But crochet remains remarkably human and inimitable. It can only be made with human hands.
You will find a mix of handmade items here. Some have been made new for new homes and bodies. Some have been thrifted and repaired, ready for the next laps, lovers, sofas, and families they’ll cover.
On average, a standard crocheted blanket has been through the hands of someone caring for more than 20 hours while being created. This means the items you find in this section will be well loved, few, and as unique as the artist who made them.
